Weston Yap founder of Kupunakalo, created the taro education website in 2009, now a widely used school and community resource. Dedicated to Hawaii's sustainable agriculture, he's worked in various roles, including Hawaii Produce Safety Program Manager and with companies like Fresh Island Fish Co. With legislative experience from the Senate Ways and Means Committee and expertise in food production and risk management, Weston has also volunteered on agricultural committees and aided farmers in disaster recovery. He has a background in insurance and served in the U.S. Peace Corps. He holds degrees from the University of Washington and Punahou School.
Kaipo‘i Kelling describes himself as a “black moth on the wall.” He is a kumu, an educator.
Jerry Konanui is a Native Hawaiian Mahi‘ai (farmer) who gathers, grows, maintains and provides the many varieties of Hawaiian food crops. As a resource person he is called upon to provide hands on workshops on identification of Hawaiian food plants, their varieties, their propagation, cultivation, harvesting, processing and use throughout the Islands.
Penny Levin is a taro farmer on Maui. She is also a restoration ecologist, conservation planner, and executive director of E kupaku ka ‘aina - The Hawai‘i Land Restoration Institute.
Ben Trevino has over 5 years of experience in technology and film. He holds a BS in Computer Science from Stanford and worked at Google against click-fraud. In Hawaii since 2006, he improved HIFF's technical systems and served as Director of Operations.
